Türkiye Clinics 17th National Dermatology Competition Held – MEDIMAGAZIN

The traditional ‘Dermatology Competition,’ organized by Türkiye Clinics and held during the Prof. Dr. Lütfü Tat Symposium, garnered significant attention from dermatology experts. The winner of the competition was Dr. Aslı Akın Belli from the Dermatology Clinic of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Training and Research Hospital.

The 23rd edition of the ‘Prof. Dr. Lütfü Tat Symposium,’ one of the most prominent symposiums in the field of dermatology, took place in Ankara between November 22-26, 2017.

The ‘Dermatology Competition,’ supported by JEOMED and organized by Türkiye Clinics, became a traditional part of the symposium, and attracted considerable interest from dermatology experts.

Featuring 30 multiple-choice questions, the ’17th Dermatology Competition’ questions were prepared by dermatology clinics of medical faculties and education and research hospitals under the Ministry of Health in Türkiye. The questions, selected by the competition committee, were designed with a balanced distribution among the clinics.

First Place Goes to Muğla

In the competition supported by JEOMED, Symposium Chairman Prof. Dr. Gonca Elçin presented plaques to the top three physicians. The winner of the competition was Dr. Aslı Akın Belli from the Dermatology Clinic of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Training and Research Hospital with a score of 24. The second place went to Dr. Sema Koç Yıldırım, a final-year assistant from the Department of Dermatology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, with a score of 21.5. Dr. İlteriş Oğuz Topal from the Dermatology Clinic of Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital took third place with a score of 21.

Dr. Aslı Akın Belli, the winner of the competition, said, “I am very happy and honored. Receiving the result of my efforts both spiritually and with such an award made me very happy. Among the competition questions, there were both difficult and easy ones. The questions were well-crafted and challenging, suitable for individuals who put effort. They allowed us to see not only details that would not catch our attention but also important topic headings.

Competition Runner-Up Dr. Sema Koç Yıldırım

Expressing that the theoretical questions included in the competition increased their professional knowledge, the competition runner-up, Sema Koç Yıldırım, stated, “I am very happy and proud. Among the questions, there were difficult ones that everyone could answer, as well as theoretical questions. It contributed to increasing our professional theoretical knowledge.”

Competition Third Place Dr. İlteriş Oğuz Topal

The competition’s third-place winner, Dr. İlteriş Oğuz Topal, mentioned that the questions in the competition were ones that regularly practicing physicians could answer and that some questions contained important details. Topal expressed that the competition contributed to updating his knowledge and reviewing his weaknesses.

The common opinion among the physicians participating in the 17th Dermatology Competition was that the exam was crucial for updating their knowledge and identifying knowledge gaps.

Symposium Chairman Prof. Dr. Gonca Elçin stated, “This symposium began under the leadership of our teacher Lütfü Tat. The goal was to have one year of national dermatology and one year of this symposium held in Ankara, discussing innovations. It started from a very accurate point, and for 46 years, even in Ankara, which has no sea or coastline, it continues every two years.

The sessions are very intense; physicians come here to learn about innovations in dermatology. It is the most special event in the field of dermatology. With 1,011 participants, everyone is very satisfied with the symposium, and all the halls where the sessions took place were full; this is even more important.
